That’s Love

A reference librarian from Baisley Park Library in New York reading to kids while their parents picked up donated clothing after Hurricane Sandy

Love of story, love of kids, love of fellow man. Bravo.

“Staff held story book time for children whose parents were choosing donated clothing, next to the Book Bus at Queens Library at Peninsula. A comforting story helped stressed kids and gave the adults a needed rest.”

Food For Thought: Will Libraries Run Themselves?

In the Los Angeles Times Blowback Opinion article ‘Saving libraries but not librarians‘, Dan Terzian states,

“Libraries should embrace the digital revolution, even though it entails the loss of librarians. The purpose of libraries — the purpose of librarians — is to spread knowledge. The growth of the Internet changes how we pursue this purpose. We no longer need librarians in the same way and in the same number as before.”

I Did Say Transformation

From Unshelved. I subscribe to the cartoon for a daily giggle. Luckily I don’t actually believe that a library has to go that far to attract young adults!
