Did you happen to complete the conversion of your K- 2 collection? I am in the process of converting my PreK 4 – 6 library to PreK 4 – 2 – I am using the “bookstore” model – love your subject divisions – I have followed your steps without even knowing them – as a result of VERY heavy weeding and sending the books for 3 – 6 to the other school we merged with I just don’t have much left but I am thrilled with what has happened so far and so are kids that visit the Library as they register – I am having to use existing shelving but after taking the top shelves out a nifty space has been created for signage – I’ m stuck with flat against the wall shelves but am determined to make it work. Would love to see photos – I loved reading your blog. Charlotte.breard@mcschools.net
I hate to admit it, but I’m trying to get that area finished this summer on my own time. Just couldn’t manage it while school was open. I know what you mean about working with existing shelving. Space restrictions have modified my divisions in the K-2 area somewhat and I’ll put up a chart when I’m finished – hopefully by the end of summer.
I’m so glad your students are excited about the new layout. Do you have pictures of it up somewhere that I can see? The few K-2 areas I had done last year were really popular and the rest of the library got rave reviews. It certainly makes all the work worth while.
I’m so glad you enjoyed the blog. I see your site is ‘in progress’ and look forward to seeing it when it’s up and running. Thank you very much for your comment and I hope you’ll visit again.
