Video-Making Tools

This video was made to show some options for video creation specifically for YASLA Academy videos but is a nice overview of many of the tools available for any video project.

Betty Glover Librarians’ Workout Tape

Created in 1987 at Arizona State University.

It’s a shame that most of us will no longer have a lot of the exercize ‘equipment’ around. The VHS tape was only $69.95!

Mo Willems Mania

On Goodreads

If you’re a fan of Mo Willems and you have more Lego at home than I do…(My boys are 30ish now, what can I say? The tub has dwindled somewhat over the years.)…You might like this cute idea for building Mo’s bird from Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus. You can find it here at Andertoons, along with step-by-step instructions.

You can buy Pigeon fabrics and project pages! (Click)

Pigeon has his own website with lots of stuff for kids as well as activities and teaching guides for “boring” grown-ups. There’s a game out too, but I happened to catch this less than stellar review as well.

So We’re Still Here After All

If you’re reading this, that means that the world didn’t vaporize yesterday. It didn’t explode, or implode, or annihilate life in whatever cataclysmic method you may have imagined.

This helps a little to explain why.

It's beautiful. But apparently, it's not Mayan.

It’s beautiful. But apparently, it’s not Mayan.

And if you’re still feeling a little dumbfounded…

Mayan Priest, Carlos Barrios reassures us that rather than an ending, December 21st marked a new beginning, a transformation.

“Change is accelerating now, and it will continue to accelerate.” If the people of the earth can get to this 2012 date in good shape, without having destroyed too much of the Earth, Mr. Barrios said, we will rise to a new, higher level…“Humanity will continue,” he contends, “but in a different way. Material structures will change. From this we will have the opportunity to be more human.”

END OF WORLD CONFIRMED: 'If you were a betting man, you’d bet on the world ending. I am,” said Professor Malley'.
