Friday Funny: How a Book is Born

From WeldenOwen where the author introduces this infographic as a “roughly 74 percent accurate story of how an idea churns through the publishing process just like—as a publisher we once knew put it—a rat travels through an anaconda.”

  1. There is a new alternative to this mess. Unbound–where potential readers vote for books pitched by authors online.

    • Very interesting concept: “Unbound puts the power of publishing in the hands of authors and readers. Authors pitch their book ideas directly to you. If you back a project before it reaches its funding target, you get your name printed in the back of every copy and immediate behind-the-scenes access to the author’s shed. If any project fails to hit its funding target, you get refunded in full.”

I’m kind of wondering what I might find behind an author’s shed, but nonetheless it sounds like a neat idea.
